FAQ
Who can apply to LEAD?
LEAD is ideal for students 18-23 years old who are graduating from high school; in college but not sure why; or college graduates who desire to have a season of life dedicated to God before they begin their careers. Students should display a strong desire to allow God to shape their life and be currently seeking opportunities to grow, lead, and serve others within their community.
When does LEAD begin and end?
LEAD is a nine-month internship that begins in August and concludes in May.
If I do not desire to enter full-time ministry, is LEAD still the place for me?
The goal of LEAD is to launch students further into the life and calling God has for them. Some graduates with a call to serve in a local church may go on to pursue full-time occupational ministry. However, the goal of LEAD is to produce followers of Christ who are equipped to lead and impact their world for Jesus in whatever field they are called to.
Is LEAD an accredited program?
The internship is not primarily an academic program. However, LEAD is a unique educational environment that will challenge you to know, understand, and defend a biblical worldview. Your academic experience takes place in a classroom setting and classes are through Grace College of Divinity. Grace College is a Bible college dedicated to preparing men and women for effective leadership and Christ-like servant hood.
I am not interested in attending LEAD but would like to be involved. How can I help?
If you have a passion to invest in the development of future leaders you can financially sponsor a student and provide a host home. Your investment will go towards tuition and living expenses for students who are devoting ten months of their lives to personal development. Please see the ‘Donate’ tab on this website.
Can I raise support for my tuition from my friends and family?
We highly encourage our students to invite friends and family to invest in this crucial 10-month part of their lives. Students will be constantly involved in ministry here at Church of the King. This makes for a great investment for your friends and family who want to invest in changing lives. We encourage students to write a letter, make phone calls or personal visits with friends and family asking for their financial support. We have sample support letters upon request to help students formulate their own letter.
Will I have transferable school credit?
You will be able to receive transferable credits through Grace College but the school you choose to attend after LEAD will determine whether or not they will accept your credits.
How can I earn extra money during LEAD?
Due to the rigorous and busy schedule, LEAD students are not permitted to have part time employment. However, we will accommodate them on their days or nights off to take on odd jobs, babysitting, yard work etc.
Do I have to participate in Mission Trips?
Jesus made it clear in the scriptures that we are to go into all the world and this is a major focus of LEAD. Students will find that the overseas mission trip will be a highlight of their LEAD experience. Participation in the overseas trip is not mandatory but it is highly encouraged.
