I’m Going to Israel!

Brent and I were planning to sell our house and downsize since our kids were older and it would be just the two of us when one Sunday afternoon we get a phone call from Pastor Dave Madden asking us if we would be interested in being a host family. He explained that some of the girls who were interning would need a place to live for 10 months. Right away a peace came over me but I wanted to discuss this with my husband. I got off the phone and shared with him what Pastor Dave told me and he just sat down and looked at me and said “You are not going to believe this but I had a dream last week that some older teenagers were going to be living here.” We both felt that God had spoken to him in the dream. We called Pastor Dave and told him we would love to do this. The girls moved in with us and it has been a wonderful experience. Everyone always says “How do you do it?” The thing is we never feel overwhelmed. God provides for everything we need! We love these girls so much! We feel like we have known them forever. My husband and I feel that God has given them to us and is using us to encourage them and pray for them. My husband says they are our extended family and we pray for them just like we do for our children. We can’t wait to see what God is going to do in each of their lives. They are so beautiful inside and out! We realize now that God would rather us use our home to help others and glorify Him rather than sell our home and downsize so our life could be easier. It’s all about glorifying our Father! Brent and I honestly feel that we are the ones being blessed by having these incredible girls live with us. We feel so honored that God is allowing us to be a part of their journey!”

I had been attending Church of the King for 3 years prior to LEAD, I was active in worship and serving in a number of different ministries, but I still felt God had more in store. Throughout the ten months I was challenged in every way and God brought refining to my life. I found out what a real relationship with God was like, I learned about the Bible, how to serve and minister to people. But most of all I learned who I am in Christ, and what he has called me to do.
